Charles-Joseph de Ligne is a Franco-Belgian artist whose transdisciplinary practice moves fluidly between photography, architecture, and material experimentation. Raised in a culturally rich and heritage-conscious environment, he developed an early, intuitive approach to art—one that diverges from conventional academic paths while remaining deeply informed by a cultivated and discerning eye.

Following studies in Cambridge and Switzerland, he trained at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris, where he developed a particular interest in composition, light, and landscape-inspired forms. His artistic and philosophical practice has also been shaped by several formative years abroad, notably in India, China, and Portugal.

Now focused on experimental photography, his work explores the boundaries of the medium, forging a dialogue between still image, shifting sensation, and painterly materiality. Through lens modification, print manipulation, and hybrid techniques, he produces works that oscillate between luminous abstraction and meditative visual language. Each image becomes a mental architecture—a sensory passage through the visible.
